January 27
YCS Student Focus Area of the Week: We are back outside on the playground for recesses, and we should be looking for examples of the “Royal Way.” This includes finding our correct exits, working with peers and supervisors for safety & respect, and inviting others while we play fairly. Let’s not forget it is still winter, and we should be dressing accordingly.
Newsletter items are due to Mrs. Gendur by 3:30 p.m. today
Students and Guests will notice that YCS Teachers are dressed down today to raise funds for the World Wildlife Federation. Students may well have dressed in their favourite animal prints today. Classroom teachers that collect donations are asked to forward money to Mrs. Landstad. The class with the highest percentage of participation will win an ice cream cake to share.
Congratulations to Alex Flaman, who was the winner of the Grade Math Bulletin Board Challenge. She received a gift card to spend.
Basketball Update: Good luck to our Royal Girls in their tournament this weekend. If you want to attend and cheer them on, their first game is at 9am Saturday morning. Students can check out other games on the game schedule in the gym. Thank you to the Otthon 4-H Club for running the canteen.
Mr. Beatty is looking to start a Mural Club, which will be involved in painting some pictures & messages on some designated school walls. He is looking for students with artistic interests. Students should submit sample drawings to him if interested.
Mr. Buhler will meet with his Activate Club today @ 12:00 in the library.
Congratulations to the Debate Club for their participation in yesterdays debate against Columbia.
Badminton practice will be held after school on Monday. Parents please do not make a special trip into Yorkton if this does not accommodate your schedule. On Tuesday, the badminton doubles tournament will occur after school. This is a tournament just for YCS badminton players; therefore, teams please register today if interested in playing.
Reminder that we are having out Terrier’s evening on February 3. Tickets can be purchased from the office.
All parents and students are reminded that there is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, January 31. It is a professional development day across Good Spirit School Division. Teachers will get started at 9:00 a.m. ALL teachers should be checking the YCS Staff Flash for an outline of Monday’s events.
Royal Birthday Greetings are extended to Justin, Courtney, Nicholas, Michael, Adam, and Emily, who are celebrating a birthday today or on the weekend.
